Help!

That's the utmost cry from Yolanda victims that dazed the world now.  And for us who have been spared from Yolanda wrath, it is the utmost thing we should do now to make the victims survive from its devastating aftermath.

For most of you who can read this blog, I'm sure that by now you have at least planned on how you can donate - may it be your cash, goods, time or physical presence in distributing help to our kababayans.  And while donations and aids are flowing as I write this post, it may still take a while and a lot more are needed to rebuild a city in despair.  It might not be just a one-time help for most of us who are not rich and cannot donate significant amount. But in our little ways, richly poured, we can significantly help.

Here are more ways we can do to help.  I've listed ways and some links that might give you more ideas.

  1. Sharing a mobile phone's load, even in small amount goes a long way on this time of crisis.  Philippine Red Cross is one organization who can make the most of use out of the pasa load you can spare to the victims.  For more organizations, Manila Bulletin posted some more on their updated list.
  2. It's payday, Friday tomorrow.  Even eating out can also help the victims.  How? Lists are here from what I read from today's Inquirer's Lifestyle column by Margaux Salcedo.  This will surely give the foodie lovers a treat for their outreaching heart and soul as well.
  3. Look for businesses who have announced their sale proceeds benefiting Yolanda victims. A friend's salon announced that its giving its sales to the victims this weekend, and availing its services is one way to take part on its good cause.
  4. Celebrations can also become venues to help. Choose events that are fund-raising for Yolanda victims. Lea Salonga's concert this December for one is a venue where you can take part in donating in kind and through the concert's sale proceeds.
  5. And lastly, if you can lend some listening ears to them - it's most valuable.  Moral support is one precious gift that we can share to the victims in this time of despair and loss.

Give help.  Because you can.
