5 Reasons Why The Overlooking Chalet is The Best Vacation House in Tagaytay
10:47 PM
Have you ever felt a need to be on a vacation like you're just at home but away from home? I mean, a homey place with a holiday atmosphere but no pressure of having a scheduled itinerary - when to get up, eat breakfast, take shower, best time to take a selfie without the chaos of other vacationers crowding the view? Gahhh, that vacation that you'd like to have another vacation after.
So, I'd figure I want that one with me free of eating/staying on my bed all day but with the luxury of having a grand view when I changed my mind and decided to peep out from my window that is wide-open with cold breeze coming in and cooling off my whole system.
Well, one certain ice cream day, me and the hubs did just that! We escaped the oven-riffic city heat for 48 hours and relaxed in Tagaytay.
My eager search to experience just that kind of vacation got me into a hidden vacation house in Tagaytay with
all the elements to make it the best overlooking chalet I've ever
stayed in (yes, put those exact three words in highlight on google and you'll
get the same result as this one I'm going to share).
It's practically hidden, and my descriptive
narration were buried for quite awhile, too.
My momentary ineptitude got me into thinking
why I have that big word on my title, ie. BEST. So, this an attempt to write an
honest review about a vacation house I've borrowed from its good owners and why I'm five times so impressed. First of all, my big thanks to Ian of AirBnB for trusting us and sharing
the house like our own.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
What I'd like best about it is probably where
its windows and double-wide door leading to its balcony is facing. The chalet is
perched on a steep cliff overlooking to a magnificent view of Taal Lake
with all the hills and trees that can give crisp air to breath in. I felt that
I've totally clean my lungs by just staying on the airy balcony. I'm missing it
already.
UNIQUE LAYOUT
Without any qualms on getting down the 160 steps (or less) leading to
the first landing of the house, I hold my breath with excitement while mind had
swirled to collect a hundred many memories where I can compare this one with
and finally sifted to the thought of how far from the usual this house and the
experience will be. It made me so happy!
UNIQUE LAYOUT
The first landing of the house are the bedrooms. Kinda weird
but as I've said, this one is quite unique.
Comprising of three King-sized beds and are separated by
curtains, the bedroom is the entire second level of the house. Oversized
sliding window-capiz walled the second level. Every corner is trying to compete
with my attention as each one is boasting its own uniqueness.
Wash table beside the bed is one of my fav photo booth. ;-)

Just look at the interior which boast a grand character of
its own.
Steps outside the house leading further down to the next
level is the living room. It's perfect for lounging.
Its rustic interior is complemented with splashes of vibrant
colors provided by paintings on the wall and coordinated with throw pillows.
While we're treated with serenity as neighbourhood is peaceful
here, we can still connect with the rest of the world thru their pocket wifi.
Which we may not need to. Because all we need is our playlist from our phone ready,
turned the blue tooth speaker on and buried ourselves to a book or some magazines before we dozed off. Chill!
Further steps down leads to another lounge
area. Don't miss to see the sunset at this spot!
THE FIREPLACE
It's a surprise for us to find a house with a fireplace.
Being on the edge of the hill where deep water runs below, a
cold windy night in Tagaytay warrants this place to burn up some logs and feel
cozy woozy with soft music playing on the background.
Add with some good food and wine, too. I'll leave it up to you to imagine how romantic it is!
THE MODERN KITCHEN
Serious searching is a skill and hitting booking button with
excitement is an art for a wanderlust like me. That is the exact opposite of my
skills and talent in the kitchen, however.
But having a kitchen with something like they do in this
vacation house, I forgot my lackluster skills in food preparation. I'm so
inspired to cook here! Definitely another reason why I'm so in love with
this vacation house.
I tried some easy recipes hacked from the web. And I'll share
it on a separate post coz I know how trying-hard, non-chef, busy mommies/career-women like me are but are still wanting to deliver something on the dinner table that their hubs can be proud of.
Yes, I really know how to cook...rice and scrambled egg. *smirk
But it's just too comfortable to do my non-cheffy moves in a
kitchen like theirs. It's a modern kitchen with all the cooking utensils and
equipment ready. Just the skills and the food we need to cook are what's expected from me. Malalim na #hugot ito but I'd like to think I'm a fast learner, naman. LOL. The kind caretaker "Ate Fely" is also ready to help out, if you need it.
So, the cooking happened. And it's yummy! My proof though was gone with snapchat! I just didn't know how to cook and be techy-ready always to brag my momentary victory.

THE VIBES
And of course, it's this positive energy and serenity at the
same time that has made me rave about this house. There were moments when I
need to slow down, reflect and recharge my creativity. And the overlooking
chalet in Tagaytay has provided me the ambiance to achieve them.
It's safe to say, I'm one very grateful vacationer to find this place and spend one awesome weekend with my favorite travel buddy, the hubs.

Love everything about this post. It seems your trip was what you exactly needed. It did look serene and peaceful. I'd like to bring my Mom there.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's very serene. :-)
DeleteA very nice place! Loving destination with fantastic views! They make me feel so relaxed and they set me in a reflecting mood :)
ReplyDeleteThis is quite a place to reflect. Can be a group planning venue, too.
DeleteI can live here forever!!!! Everything is just fantastic. I'd love to read a book right there in that lounge area with an umbrella. How I wish I can have a chalet like this haha
ReplyDeleteHaha! Me, too. 😉
DeleteThis place is full of art and great scenery. Haven't tried to have an overnight stay there coz it is near my place :(
ReplyDeleteWow, you're sharing the same scenery everyday! Jealous me. ;-)
DeleteI've always wanted to go to Tagaytay for a weekend escapade. Last year I was always in Tagaytay but not for vacation but for work purposes. Now I'm really looking forward to spend a weekend in Tagaytay for relaxation. Will add this place to my accommodation choices. More or less how much will a weekend escapade in overlooking Chalet cost?
ReplyDeleteHope you'll have a memorable weekend in Tagaytay!
DeleteFantastic place! Hope you don't mind, how much would it cost to stay here? Planning to bring my family to relax. The view is stunning!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good place to relax, indeed!
DeleteThe place looks cozy and very private. I checked their FB but it's not updated. Did you book through AirBnb or TripAdvisor for your stay here?
ReplyDeleteThru AirBnB. You can use the link on this post. It's current. ;-)
DeleteChalet will always be my perfect vacation stay dream. Glad to know that Tagaytay is offering such accommodation. Loving the designs of every corner. :)
ReplyDeleteHope there's more like it at different places, right? 😉
DeleteThis is a great place from the unique bedroom, the cozy lounge area and the modern kitchen. By just looking at the pictures I already feel the need to relax at that place. I love the photo when you were trying to cook. I will recommend this for our next tagaytay trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim! It's something new to me. Haha!
DeleteWhat a beautiful place indeed. Andaming hidden hotels and houses talaga in Tagaytay that's why I love going there. Question though how much was the rate per night?
ReplyDeleteFor most of you who are asking for the rate, it's around Php 5-6K coz there's added tax and cleaning charges. It may be different from time to time if they have low season promo. I've checked now, its Php 4270++. Use the AirBnB link up there on my post, if you must. It's current. Btw, that's good for 2 persons. Additional per head is around 800. Max of 10. 😊
ReplyDeleteThe interiors looks like from a setting in the 80s. I dont think I can ever be comfy there because I'm into modern interiors. haha! IT's quite a good staycation but it would be better if there's a pool too, right? :)
ReplyDeleteAyt! :-)
DeleteThe place looks nice and cozy. Definitely separates you from stress in the city. Want to visit this place too. How much should I prepare when visiting this place? :)
ReplyDeleteYes, a laid back experience out from a typical busy weekend vibes of Tagaytay. About Php 5-6K for 2 persons on an overnight stay will do. 😊
DeleteJust wondering Adel, is the accommodation just good for 2 people? Or will there be additional rate for more than 2 people? :)
DeleteIMG! Did you see that view? Of course, you saw that view. That is a place I could spend countless moments at and it still wouldn't be long enough. Thanks a ton for sharing such a beautiful hideout.
ReplyDeleteI'm such an old soul so this accommodation would be perfect for me! Everything is beautiful on its own. I can't get over the gorgeous living room and the overlooking space! I wouldn't need a wifi for that. A book, a camera, some nice music and a good company would be more than enough.

Wow, just wow! The interior just made me remember my mom's ancestral house back in the province. It totally gave me that time travel vibe. This is really a great place to stay for a break from the city. I just wish I could go here too and just lounge and relax without thinking any stress! It's just breathtaking. I think I could live in this place for good! <3
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kristine. It's really a lovely place to stay at.
DeleteTagaytay is one of our favorite places. There is something in Tagaytay that makes it so romantic. This post is just perfect for the Love month. Will add this to our list of places to visit.
ReplyDeleteThe place is simply beautiful! The rustic charm of the place and the colors that the owners used add to its appeal. I love how everything is well thought-out to complement the area's natural setting. This definitely makes a perfect place to getaway from the city.
ReplyDeleteThat vacation house is amazing! What a spectacular view! I can see why you felt inspired there. And plus it has an amazing kitchen!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! The place is incredible. I agree at times we need a break without stressing on a proper itinerary, and just relax in the resort for a couple days! Somehow I never get to go it, though! Lolz!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to tagaytay in such a long time! Your post reminded me of how much I loved going there. We used to go fairly regularly but then we moved to subic so those trips stopped. We're back in manila now so i can't wait to do an impromptu visit soon! The overlooking chalet looks so comfy and cozy- will definitely check it out:)
ReplyDeleteTHe place indeed has a lovely view. I think it would be a wonderful place to do some writing. I would love to check this out. How much is the rent?
ReplyDeleteFor 2, it was around 5K+. For updated rate, kindly click the link at the bottom of this post. Thanks.
Deletewhat a gorgeous house! Definitely my style of house. I just love the different levels and gardens and the kitchen looks incredible. I would love to spend a weekend of a lifetime there. Such a special spot.
ReplyDeleteNever been to Tagaytay but as an outdoor loving person, the place seems a perfect getaway. Manila and Luzon is on top of my list this year, I hope I could visit any Tagaytay spot this year. This is such a good reference.
ReplyDeleteThank you
The capiz shell windows reminds me so much of my great grandmothers house. It was my childhood playground if I remember it correctly. I wished they preserved it like this house in Tagaytay. Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos. Maybe we could check it out when we go to Tagaytay.
ReplyDeleteI can completely understand why you say this is the best chalet - it's absolutely breath-taking (or is that because of your amazing photographs?)
ReplyDeleteIt kind of makes me want to jet set away to Tagaytay!
I haven heard so many things about Tagaytay and that's one of the places I'll surely hit when I get to go to Manila. And those 5 reasons you have, I couldn't agree more of it most especially the kitchen area also the unique layout of the place, ooooh it's something hitting me that I should go there one day!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments!
